Story of the Night

The President on his way back

An inside source in the Yankees indicated today, that the Yankees are considering calling up Ian Kennedy for Fridays Game. If called up Rasner might be the man out

Scranton/WB
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
Kennedy (W, 4-2) 7 6 2 2 1 6 1 2.14

X plus Y equals Win

Xavier plus Youth equals win.

Xavier Nady had a career high Six RBI, had a monster Homerun all while going 4-5.

Nady has been a great addition to team providing the power that the Yankees had been lacking. Helping the Yankees beat the Angels 14-9 and splitting the series versus the best team in Baseball. In his eight career Yankee games Nady is hitting .385, has hit 3 HR and has driven in 10 runs.

Most players come to New York and hit a wall attempting to impress out of the box. While Nady had played in Queens at the big Toilet Bowl in Flushing, playing in the house that Ruth Built is different. We can say that he has shined during his first full week while wearing the Pinstripes.

Before we retire his number and make him out to be the next Paul O'Neal lets wait & see how he reacts on his first slump.

Touch of Youth

Justin Christian has been a shot of youth and energy. He is the spark that the Yankees have needed in the late innings. Justin has stolen 5 bases on 6 attempts while batting a healthy 296. People are comparing him to Homer Bush and his running style has been very similar. Homer in 1998 aided the Yankees in the late innings and was the spark plug off the bench.

Povano & Hughes

On the road to come back takes us to the Charleston RiverDogs.

Pitchers POS  NOTE  IP  ER  BB  SO  HR  ERA
Pavano    3.0  1.80
Hughes  (W, 2-0)  3.2  0.00

Both Pavano & Hughes pitched for the second time since coming off the DL.

From the looks of it they both had a good pitching line.

Last Old Timers Day makes for a good day.

Mike Mussina stopped the losing streak, on a day that the Yankees celebrated the last Old Timers Day at the current Yankee Stadium.

On one side the best team in Baseball with a combined record 69-40, a team that has a 12-2 record since the All Star game and coming off a one to nothing victory over the third place Yankees, while dominating the league.

On the other side you had a team that was over matched by a very bad Orioles team and embarrassed by the best team in Baseball the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Disneyland, Orange County, California.

No one expected the Yankees to get embarrassed on the day that you had 70 legends and former Yankee players on Old Timers day. Yet even the most optimistic fan would have expected another loss.

Through all of this Mussina looked great and other than a bad inning in which Betemit made an error on a double play.

His line looked great a two hitter while pitching 7 strong.

Mike is 6 victories away from winning his 20th victory for the first time in his Career.

Twice he has won nineteen in his career and he has won 17 & 18 games twice in one year. Number twenty would be sweet for the man that has won 264 career victories.

Mussina is not looking ahead he is just taking one game at the time.

This year Mike has been the Yankees best starter and most reliable pitcher. He is playing for a contract at this point not resigning him looks like mistake, he can help the young pitching staff.

Yankee Universe is having a party tonight at the Stadium!

The curse is back!!

Manny Ramirez was traded to the Dodgers in a three way deal with the Pirates. You heard it here well not first but, Before the world wide leader of crap!!!

Dodgers get Manny Ramirez, Jason Bay to Boston.

Pittsburgh gets Craig Hansen, Outfielder Brandon Moss, Andy LaRoche, and Bryan Morris.

A party will be thrown at Yankees Stadium tonight at 7pm.

Red Sox fans we have tissues for you.

How stupid you must be to trade the best right handed hitters in the game.

Sad. Friends sad.

Good day to be a Yankee

By Frank Solares

At 1 pm this afternoon Yankees had a catcher heading to surgery. A back up catcher settling in as a starter and Farnsworth (farnsworthless as he was known by Yankees Fans) was the set up man. No one imagined that two positions such as catcher and setup man would be affected by trades. The need is starting pitching, but we have Iak almost here.

No I-Rod in Team

I-Rod (Ivan Rodriguez) was picked up to solidify the catching position and trading Kyle was most likely difficult for Girardi and Boss Cashman. The Yankees believe that I-Rod is a player that will add more to the starting line up. Rodriguez is on the last year of his contract. It was rumored that he was not getting along with his manager and was apparently not getting along with some players on the pitching staff. Rodriguez is still considered one of the best catchers in baseball despite the fact that his bat has slowed down his career numbers are very impressive and he can still be dangerous.

Game

The Yankees spent the last two days playing catch up with the Orioles and were on the verge of getting swept.

Then the team woke up, a bloop and a blast later it was 13 runs. Bobby Abreu was on fire hit two homeruns had 3 RBI on 3 hits. A-Rod also hit a homerun had two hits on two RBI and Xavier Nady had two doubles, two RBI.

The pitching was also important as Joba served as the stopper and Ed Ramirez played the roll of enforcer.

Oh By the way

The Yankees are also praying that the Sox trade Manny to the Marlins or anyone out of Boston. WEEI on the Dale and Holly show had a pole asking Sox fans if Manny should be traded. It was almost 65 % in favor of trading Ramirez.

How Awesome! that would be NY?

Bad loss yet no worries move on!

 By Frank Solares

The Yankees lost to Orioles in a forgettable loss and despite all that no worries, with the Red Sucks and Rays both losing there game. Should have ,could have, didn't! No crying over spilled milk. Did anyone believe that the Yankees were going to win after such an emotional night? No way my friends!

During game 106 of the year the 26 time champs, after coming off an eight game winning streak,  you know that they were drained. It was the classic let down game, that was over before it began.

What is next? Kennedy pitches tomorrow at Scranton and the franchise pitches at Charleston. They are on the way back soon people.

Was anyone fooled into thinking that the Yankees would mortgage the future, for a pitcher that does not last past the 6th inning or for a pitcher that is not fit ( no big pun to be intended) to be a Yankee Or for a has been or never was, pitcher? Like a pitcher that was being shopped for and the other team requested the starting Center Fielder. A guy that should not be on the starting pitching staff this year let alone in the past.

For any anyone that was a Yankee fan before October 26 1996, remember Tim Leary, Chuck Cary, Dave Lapoint, Andy Hawkins, and Mike Witt. With the exception of Andy Hawkins, Wasburn would have a worst Era than any of the for-mention pitchers that year.

Oh by the way the Yankees finished 7th that year in AL East for anyone born after 1997 or for anyone that became a Yankee fan in 1998. Remember this Brian Cashman is smarter than anyone gives him credit. He might have his Farnsworthless in his closet or the occasional Pavano, but do not forget who is one of the architects of the Dynasty.

Under him the Yankees have never missed the playoffs and under his reign the Yankees have won 3 titles, lets not all forget.
