Star of the Night

How Sweep it is

By Frank Solares

Melky Cabrera had 8 total Homeruns last season. On May 4th he already has 6 homeruns. According to the Melk man he is not trying to hit homeruns. He told a reporter. “I’m just trying to hit the ball hard”.

The Yankees have no big hitters at the moment, they are lacking the fire power of A-Rod who is on the 15 day DL, Posada who is also on the DL, Giambi is on a Major Slump, and Cano has become a notorious slow starter. So the Melk man has been everything the Yankees needed.

At a tender age of 24 his future looks very bright. For every allegation thrown at Sammy Sosa he started his career as a non homerun hitter, yet no one has ever proven that he did anything wrong. Other than give credit to Julio Franco for helping him with his swing. Cabrera might not be a Homerun hitter but, at this moment he has hit more homeruns than any other Cabrera’s in the Majors. As he feels more comfortable hitting and discovering his swing, he can prove to Twins and the rest of Baseball that he is in fact a star in the making.

Rasss of a start

Darrel Rasner might not be as popular or come with as much hype as Gen T. Yet today he pitched well enough to warrant staying on the Yankees rotation. His outing was great going 6, striking out 4, and only allowing 2 runs.

According to Girardi he will stay in the rotation for at least one more start, specially after Kennedy was sent down.

After sweeping the M's the Yanks get a day off, this date belonged to the Melk man and Rasner.
